INTRODUCTION

1. The Meditation of a King

2. His joy and confidence in the LORD

 

REJOICING IN THE LORD

The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD;

And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Psalm 21:1

1. Rejoicing in the Strength of the LORD

2. Rejoicing in the Salvation of the LORD

 

REQUEST OF THE KING

You have given him his heart’s desire,

And have not withheld the request of his lips. Psalm 21:2

1. The desire of the heart

2. The request of the lips

 

REMEMBERING THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD

3 For You meet him with the blessings of goodness;

You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.

4 He asked life from You, and You gave it to him—

Length of days forever and ever.

5 His glory is great in Your salvation;

Honor and majesty You have placed upon him.

6 For You have made him most blessed forever;

You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence. Psalm 21:3-6

7. Exceeding gladness

 

RESPONDING TO THE LORD

For the king trusts in the LORD,

And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved. Psalm 121:7

1. Trust in the LORD

2. Trust in the mercy of the LORD

3. Steadfast and Immoveable in the Most High

 

PROBLEMS IN THE NATION

8 Your hand will find all Your enemies;

Your right hand will find those who hate You.

9 You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger;

The LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath,

And the fire shall devour them.

10 Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth,

And their descendants from among the sons of men.

11 For they intended evil against You;

They devised a plot which they are not able to perform.

12 Therefore You will make them turn their back;

You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces. Psalm 21:8-12

1. Enemies

2. Those who hate the LORD

3. Those who pursue evil

4. Those who plot to do harm to others

 

HOW GOD WOULD DEAL WITH THE ENEMIES

1. God will find the enemies

2. He will be angry with the wicked

3. He will destroy them

4. He will also destroy their wicked offspring

5. The wicked ones would not succeed in their evil plans

 

REMAINING STEADFAST

Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength!

We will sing and praise Your power. Psalm 121:13

1. Seeking the exaltation of the LORD

2. Singing the praises of the LORD’s power

 

OUR CHALLENGE

1. To examine this Royal Psalm carefully

2. To emulate the example of the King

3. To exalt the glorious name of the LORD
