WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 29 May 2022

 

Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION

11 Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

Colossians 1:11-12

 

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

1. Strengthened with all might

a) This is how we were meant to be

i) We were meant to be strong
ii) We may have the might of God’s strength

 

b) Unfortunately

i) Many believers are weak
ii) Many pastors are also weak

2. According to His glorious power

a) We can be made strong according to God’s power
b) And His power is truly glorious

3. What are the goals for God to empower us?

a) The word “patience”

i) It means “perseverance”
ii) We can find God’s power to help us to persevere to the end of our life

b) Longsuffering with joy

i) The word “longsuffering” means “endurance”

ii) We can endure much because of God’s power enable us to be strong

4. Giving of thanks

a) We should always be giving thanks to God
b) We have so many things to thank God for

c) This blessing was highlighted:

i) God has qualified us to be partakers of a divine inheritance
ii) This inheritance is promised to all who are saints in the light

 

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. Challenges for us as servants of God

a) To be strong in the power of God
b) To be able to persevere in our service of God

c) To be able to endure as the Lord enables us

2. Let us deal with the problem of weakness

a) Let us address the problem of weakness in our personal life
b) Let us address the problem of weakness in serving God

c) If weaknesses are not addressed, our ministries would never bear much fruit

3. Thanksgiving
Let us cultivate a strong spirit of thanksgiving:

a) Personal Life
b) Church ministry
