WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 27 February 2022

 

Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11

 

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

1. The challenge was given to all in the church

a) The brethren
b) Not just the leaders

2. Being strong

a) This is a necessity
b) There is great danger in being weak
c) Strength

i) To be found in the Lord
ii) This is further explained as in the power of God
iii) And in His might

3. The whole armour of God

a) Six pieces would be identified
b) Each piece has its own significance
c) Every piece adds to the completeness of God’s provision
d) Every piece must be worn in strength

4. The war we are engaged in:

a) The war is against the Devil himself
b) He is a wily enemy
c) He has many methods of attacking the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ

 

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. The problems that persist

a) Few are aware of spiritual warfare
b) Not many are strong in the Lord

i) There is little power
ii) There is little might

c) Not all know how to wear the armour of God

2. These problems affect:

a) The life and ministry of the Church
b) Pastors who end up not doing well in ministry

3. The challenge in front of us

a) We must check ourselves

i) Are we strong?
ii) Do we know how to put on the armour of God?

b) Let us do our utmost to be strong
c) There is a spiritual battle to be fought and won
d) Let us equip our brethren for spiritual warfare
