WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 10 May 2020
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. Identification with the Lord Jesus Christ
a) This is the key concept
b) This is indeed “a faithful saying”
i) A truth that stands for all time
ii) A principle to understand and live by
2. If we died with Him
a) The death of the Lord Jesus is to be deeply understood and appreciated
b) If we apply this correctly, it would mean:
i) We die to sin
ii) We die to the world
iii) We to all the wrong and corrupt things of the world
3. If we endure
a) Living for the Lord often means suffering for His sake
b) Our challenge is to endure and to bear whatever we have to undertake
c) We will find the strength to bear all things through the grace of the Lord
4. If we deny Him
a) We can deny the Lord even if we do not verbally say this out loud
b) We can deny the Lord if we live for the things of the world
c) The fearful consequence is that the Lord will also deny that He knows us!
5. If we are faithless
a) We may not always be full of faith
b) There may be times when we feel weak and we let the Lord down
c) The Lord will be faithful to us for He knows all our weaknesses
d) He cannot and will not deny all that He has promised
6. To all the faithful
a) We have the promise that we will live with Him
b) We will reign with Him
c) We have every reason to rejoice in the Lord and be faithful always
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. Let us determine to be faithful to the Lord who gave His life for us. We owe Him
everything!
2. Let us never succumb to the temptations of the world offering wealth!
To live for selfish ends is to deny the Lord who bought us!
Prayerfully,
Pastor Charles Tan
