PASTORAL LETTER 1 August 2022

Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight

Colossians 1:21-22

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
And you, who once were alienated and enemies…

1. The pronoun “you” refers to the readers of Colossians
2. They were Gentiles
3. They thus were not only alienated from God but also enemies of God

1. In their mind
2. By their wicked works
Yet now He has reconciled…

1. The Lord Jesus has reconciled us to God

a. In the body of His flesh through death
b. In His physical death on the cross

2. In so doing, the Lord seeks to present us

a. Holy
b. Blameless
c. And above reproach in the sight of God

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. Our past

a. We were not part of God and His Kingdom
b. We were enemies of God, witnessed by our own minds and wicked works

2. Our present

a. We are reconciled to God through the shedding of the blood of the Lord Jesus
b. We are God’s people

3. Let us seek to live up to the Lord’s expectations!

Prayerfully
Tomas Zatel
